In cooperation with the Croatian Institute for Movement and Dance (Hrvatski institut za pokret i ples), the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Zagreb (Akademija likovnih umjetnosti Sveučilišta u Zagrebu) hosted the fourth trans-national project meeting within the “Empowering Dance 2 - The Soft Skills Teaching and Learning Approach” project. The meeting took place in hybrid format on the Academy’s premises in the period from 5 to 7 February 2022.
The team members of the CSC Centro per la Scena Contemporanea - Casa della Danza | Comune di Bassano del Grappa project partner travelled to Zagreb to meet with the team members of the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Zagreb and the Croatian Institute for Movement and Dance as well as local dance artists. The participants from all other project partners joined the meeting virtually. The aim of the meeting was to exchange on the project’s progress with a special focus on the interdisciplinary collaboration with the visual art students at the Academy of Fine Arts of the University of Zagreb.
The “Empowering Dance 2 - The Soft Skills Teaching and Learning Approach” project builds on the experiences of earlier projects (“Communicating Dance” and “Empowering Dance - Developing Soft Skills”). The new project continues to delve deeper into identifying, collecting, analysing and articulating the implicit skills developed through dance practice by focusing on examples of select contemporary dance practices involving a community of non-professionals. The project began in December 2020 and will continue over a period of two and a half years until May 2023.
The findings of this project will be published in a digital handbook to assist dance practitioners to identify and communicate the soft skills they use and generate in their respective practices with non-professional dance communities. The research investigates how soft skills can be developed and transferred, as well as positively impact the confidence of those engaging with dance practice. The publication of the digital handbook is scheduled for Autumn 2022. Multiplier events will then be held in all partner cities through spring 2023.
